Choi Young-ae (’74, Christian Studies) has been appointed as the 8th head of the National Human Rights Commission of Korea. She is the first ever female and nonlegal professional to head this organization, heightening hopes to focus heavily on the human rights issues at hand in Korea. In her inauguration speech, Choi claimed to make a dignified society in which everybody is recognized as a righteous human being and to eradicate our society’s discrimination and hatred.
